Sean and I have been attending the gym quite regularly lately, so I agreed to run a 5K (3.1 mile race) for the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Atlanta... well that was yesterday morning and waking up this morning was quite the task. When I say that Sean and I have been going to the gym I mean that we have been lifting weights, doing some circuit training, and then every other day I run on the elliptical for a half hour to get some cardio in there. Well apparently there is a huge difference in the elliptical and actually running, cause I would have never guessed I would have been this sore after yesterday. I do have to say that it was an awesome experience, all of these women and some men, run or walk this distance to remember ones they have lost or celebrate ones who have survived breast cancer.

The main reason I did this is because a group of girls at church started this little work out thing that we called "Smokin' Hot Mama's" although I was the only one without the "mom" title, I was still allowed to participate. Anyways, they started this thing 6 weeks ago to see who could lose the most pounds or inches and this race was the ultimate goal. I have to say how proud I am of these mom's for all of the hard work that they out into changing there activity level and there diets dramatically. They all did a great job going to the Silver Comet Trail every Saturday morning and getting in a good work out together. So, it all came together yesterday and we had so much fun being there together ready to run our hearts out, and that's exactly what we did and personally I did it in 35 minutes. I know that that doesn't sound that great but considering the last time I actually truly ran, it was pretty dang good. Plus, I was just really proud of myself for pushing through the tremendous knee pain and sprinting towards the finish line!

I highly recommend running one of these races for whatever cause of your choosing, but just do one and get out there even if you don't run, you will still be there for the experience and that's really all you need.

Good for you!! 35 minutes is excellent since (like you said) you don't normally jog as a workout.
Last year and this year I've been jogging 2 to 3 miles a day. My goal is to eventually do a 10K, but I'll probably only get to enter into some 5k's this year. It's such a thrill for me, I find it pretty addicting! It's my only outlet, since there are no gyms around... even if there were, there's the $$ issue, and the kids, and no time!
Good job Ash. That sounds like a lot of fun. I hope everything is going well for you. I will talk to you later. Love you tons.
